Congresswoman Deb Haaland Visits MIAC

Celebrating Women’s History Month

March 30, 2019
3:30 pm through 5:00 pm

Deb Haaland made history last fall when she was one of the first two Indigenous people to win a seat in the United States House of Representatives. Representing New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District (which includes ¾ of Albuquerque, along with most of the city’s suburbs), she is a former chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. Currently, Haaland serves on the House Committee on Armed Services and is the Vice Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources. She is also the co-chair of the Congressional Native American Caucus, and a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Haaland, and another Native woman, Sharice Davids of Kansas, were sworn into office on January 3, 2019.
