Celebrate International Archaeology Month Online

October 16, 2021

During the week leading up to International Archaeology Day on Saturday, October 16, members of the ARC staff plan will be posting a daily “Curator’s Choice” to the Center for New Mexico Archaeology’s (CNMA) Facebook page. Posts will focus on our stewardship of the material in the repository, including special items in the collection, standards for care and preservation, and notes on the history of archaeology in the Southwest.

In addition, MIAC is also sponsoring a special presentation by our former Curator of Archaeology, Dr. Maxine McBrinn, on children in the ancestral Southwest. Dr. McBrinn’s research relates to her work as one of the curators involved in the renewal of the Museum’s permanent exhibit, “Here, Now and Always,” which will be reopening in June 2022. Her presentation has been pre-recorded and will be available through the Museum’s YouTube channel. A link to the presentation will be posted on the CNMA’s FaceBook page on October 16.
